DJ MIKU

[English]

As one of the founders of techno/rave culture in Japan, DJ MIKU set out Japan’s first big traveling warehouse party in 1993, following the after-hours party in the early 90’s, breaking the bounderies between acid house, bleep, new beat, Detroit techno, hardcore techno, etc. with his genre-straddling mix style. His first album came in 1996 released under the name of his techno unit “LOTUS.” Following that, he established “ns-com,” an abstract / breakbeats label and started its management based on Tokyo and London. (Some of the artists he worked with are: dub squad, Susumu Yokota, Indopepsychics, chari chari, Izuru Utsumi, Dj Tasaka + Taichi, Juzu a.k.a. Moochy, World’send Girlfriend, Takayuki, Shiraishi, Hidenobu Ito, Ebizoo a.k.a. code e, etc.) Around the same time, he released his own tracks in the name of DJ MIKU as on 12 inch singles and as on compilation albums, from other labels such as Pussyfoot, PICKIN’ MUSHROOM, etc. In 2002, he broke fresh ground by releasing Sequence-Phenomenon, a mix CD compiling tunes of click house which was an extension of electronica. In 2003, he established BLANK RECORDS, which released works of domestic and International artists such as Mike Shannon, Jake Fairy, Andy Vaz, Jay Haze, Pan/Tone, Benno Blome, Peter Grummich, Metrope, Jeff Milligan, Hiroshi Watanabe, Dr. Shingo, etc. He also released his own tracks by BLANK RECORDS and WC Recordings in the same year. In 2004, with the establishment of his Japanese techno production Electric Punches he started approaching pops by putting Japanese words on electronic tunes, releasing works of , BREMEN, MEXICO, GEKKAN PROBOWLER,LEOPALDON etc. He presently is active as a DJ and a label producer.
